How to Get More Action From Your Website

Here are 2 simple questions we believe you should ask yourself about your website visitors.

1. What is the one thing I want them to know?

2. What is the one thing I want them to do?

Now let’s look at both of these questions in more detail.

1. What is the one thing I want them to know?

Now perhaps there are a few things you want them to know. However, it is very important that you do not confuse your website visitors or expect them to remember everything you would like them to.

With this in mind, we need to consider who our ideal website visitor is. Then, when we picture this person in our mind, looking at our website, what is the one thing we want them to know?

Once you know what that is, make it front and centre. As speakers, we may focus on getting more bookings and therefore we put our showreel front & centre which includes a few different events and ideally some testimonials.

Another example is using our website to grow our email list. As coaches (who speak), we may use our website to get more clients.

We can then use a ‘scrolling homepage’ design to mention the other things we would like our visitors to know. Ideally, they should also compliment the one thing you want to make sure they know.

2. What is the one thing I want them to do?

So, once we can get our ideal visitor to our website and they now know the one thing we want them to know, we need to ensure they do the one thing we want them to do.

Examples can include:

  • Request a Call Back
  • Make a Book Enquiry
  • Send a Facebook Message
  • Book a Free Discovery Call
  • Join your Facebook Group
  • Download your Free Guide
  • Take your Free Course
